“Akruti”, such a lovely name, isn’t it? I was talking with myself when I went to bed on that day. Still I was not able to forget her cute smile and sweet voice.
Next day I went to school and sat on the bench with my new group. I was sitting with one guy and one girl on small bench while others were sitting on bigger bench which was adjacent to ours. Akruti was sitting on next bench with other friends. Class started in as usual way and lectures were going on one by one. The day passed and I was happy for my new friends. This went for couple of days.
I was happy for getting new friends but I didn’t get chance to talk with Akruti since few days. As she was sitting on other bench, I used to talk with her just in the interval or at the end of the day. Our discussion was limited to only hi, hello and how’s you!! One day, I didn’t know why but I took a secret glimpse of her. Her sitting position was in such a way that she couldn’t notice that. I felt very good after taking glimpse of her and did it couple of more times on that day. Now, it became routine for me. I was paying my full attention to the class but whenever I got chance, I used to take a secret glimpse of her. It was really thrilling moment to look at her secretly.
This went properly for couple of day. One day, I was looking at her and she caught me red handed. I was looking at her and she suddenly turned her face towards me. I was not sure about her reaction but she gave me a BIG smile looking at me and turned away her face!!
At time of leaving the class, I went to meet her to say as usual bye. I asked her why she gave big smile to me when she caught me looking at her. She said, she knew from very second day that I was staring at her and she was acting like she didn’t know about it. I got shock now. I said, then why did you give big smile to me when I looked at you. She said, I don’t know why but I felt good when you were staring at me so I gave you smile. Now, that was double shock for me as I knew that she had already one very good friend to whom she was kind of close, Aditya, who was sitting next to him.
Aditya was the smartest boy in the class. He was very good in study as well as other co curricular activities. He and Akruti were in this school since last two years and they had very good bondage. Even though they had such a good relationship, she gave me big smile rather than getting angry on me when she caught me secretly looking at her!! I was very happy on that day and was thinking about her words again and again about how she felt when I was looking at her.

Relationship Status
I was very much excited on that day. It was first time for me to share my bench with a girl. Yes, I joined the co-education school after finishing my primary eduction. I finished my primary education in small town and came to city for further education as there was no facility for more studies in that town.
When I came to class, i was very happy but got disappointed in few minutes. I saw there were already some groups in the class. I tried to talk with them but there was no place for me in any group. I choose to sit on one of the empty bench in the class. Class started and faculty came to class. She asked for my introduction as I was new admission in the class. Actually the term had already started 3 weeks back but I was late in getting admission. I gave my introduction, "I am Abhay and I am from so and so place" and yes, one important thing also, "I was the ranker in my previous school and got 93% in final exam". Nobody seemed interested in my introduction until I spoke my last sentence. Suddenly I found too many eyes looking at me with some respect.
After the introduction, the class started in normal way. I was still sitting alone in the empty batch. First day was overall ok. I could see some friendship in behaviour of some guys but I guess still they were skeptical to accept me as a new friend in their group.
Next day I went to the school. There was no surprise in the class as rest all had taken the seats as per their group. I saw one empty bench waiting for me and proceeded towards it to take my seat. I was about to sit but heard a sweet voice from one girl, "Hey Abhay, if you don't mind then you can join our group". I looked in the direction of the sweet voice and was totally mesmerized by the beauty. I saw one very cute and innocent face with big eyes. Along with my eyes, my ears were also looking at her so I couldn't hear what she said !! I was looking at her with a blank face. She again asked, "Hey if you don't mind then you can join our group". I didn't know what to answer so I just said, ok, yes. They were total 7 in her group, 4 girls and 3 guys. She introduced me to her group. They were in this school since last 2 years. I felt really nice to meet new friends in my new school. In all this, I forget to ask her name. At the end of the class, I asked "Hey, thanks for joining me in your group. by the way, what's your name?". She replied with the same smile on her face "Akruti" (to be continued..)

What are you doing now ?
Last thursday, I was reading blog of my friend Satya about blogging. He mentioned why people blog with some good point about blogging. Blogging is truly an efficient way to express yourself. It gives you medium to speak out whatever you want and in my opinion, it also provides platform for potential "writers".
Since last couple of days, I have become irregular in following some of my favourite blogs. And more to that, I am not very much regular in my personal blog even. The reason is another medium which is emerging up against the blogging. Well, its not very very popular but its getting popular in a rapid fashion like a swine flu. I am talking about microblogging, thats Twitter.
I started using Twitter couple of weeks ago and found it very interesting. I consider it more as your status update rather than blogging. It also reminds me of Bulletin board where anybody can put the public message which would be available to everybody who is looking (following) that bulletin board. the same features are already there in facebook and orkut yet there is completely different fun in Twitter. Its more fun to get messages (tweets) in Twitter than getting scraps in the Orkut. Once you start using it, you will almost become a fan of it and eventually become addicted to it. Another feature which I like about Twitter is its smooth integration with cell phones. Once you integrate your Twitter account with your cellphone, it become easy to receive the updates and send the updates like SMS. They call it microblogging because you are allowed to type maximum 140 characters. Obviously you can type more than 140 characters but it defeats the purpose of microblogging.
The main difference between Twitter and other social networking is that Twitter is actually meant for real time status updates. If you are stuck up in betweent the traffic, drop a message on Twitter and everybody following you will get the updates. Few days back, an australian opener (i.e. Phillip Hughes) who was axed from second test in ashes against England, confirmed the news in his Twitter account before it was officially announced by the team. Yesterday, Chetan Bhagat reveled information about two main characters of his forthcoming book (which is coming on Diwali) in his Twitter account. So all these also gives you chance to keep in touch with favourite celebrities also (in case their IDs are not fake !!)
Eventually all this is going in the same direction, bridging the gap between Individuals and constantly updating the world about your "status" and thats the tagline of Twitter, "What are you doing now" ?

Omnipresent
This is the definition of word Omnipresent from dictionary.com
om⋅ni⋅pres⋅ent /ˌɒmnəˈprɛzənt/ [om-nuh-prez-uhnt] –adjective present everywhere at the same time: the omnipresent God.
Origin: 1600–10; <>
I was talking to my dad in India using one of the VOIP software from my lappy and got a ping from my bro on gtalk. I asked him to wait as I was busy on call. In 2-3 mins, I got a call on my hotel landline from one friend, asking if I have curd available and can he come to my room for it !! I asked my dad to wait for a min and served the curd request. Still it was not enough, I got a call on my cell from local Mexican friend asking about a weekend plan. I asked him to call back after half an hour as I was on call at India.
This situation is more common now a days. We guys are easily accessible through various communications channels and have become almost omnipresent. Recent advancement in social networking has made a big impact on communications.
I still remember my first e-mail Id which I got in yr 2000. I had to force my friends to mail me on that so I can keep on checking my mails at every fortnight and my mail account don't expire. I hardly used to get 4-5 mails per fortnight (that too on relation pressure). When I joined DA-IICT, I got luxury. We had full time Internet access in the college and we guys also exploited the resources to the best. I had 10 different mail accounts (3 in Indiatimes, 3 in yahoo and 2 in rediff, 1 in Gmail and 1 of DA-IICT !!!). Though we didn't had chat access, guys used to do it using proxies. Managing those account was bit painful but still.. it was a different fun to have a mail id from all mail provider sites !! I also got a cell phone at the same time, one more channel for communication. After some time, I realized that managing those many accounts is not worth (and even not possible practically) so I discontinued with many of them.
When I joined TCS, I heard about security polices in company. Most of the sites were blocked and it gave major blow to my communication networks. I thought now I wont have that fun of being "online" but I was wrong. I got my professional mail id from TCS along with TCS across chat access. Until I started chat in TCS, I had different perception for chat which changed very soon. I used to greet my colleague good morning wishes though chat, even though he was sitting just behind me. We used to do online chat meeting within team (even though team members were sitting just 2-3 desks away from each other !!). . It was really fun to do chat rather than meeting somebody physically, sometimes not always.
When I came to Mexico, I again started using these communication lines. I almost doubled my friends group in orkut in span of couple of months. I got chance to meet old friends after a couple of hours. I got account in Skype, LinkedIn, Twitter and many more. Now I am really Omnipresent, and so many of my other friends are. Sometimes this omnipresence is annoy little bit. You are enjoying a nice movie in Saturday afternoon and will get a ping from friend, hey.. Wat's up ? Its annoying but for friends and well wishers, we have to "available".. isn't it ?

Roadside Eateries
Since the time I have come to Mexico, I used to eat either own made (not home made) food or used to take lunch in restaurants. First time in my tenure over here I got chance to eat Mexican street food and it was really spicy experience !!
If you ask anybody in India about where can they get the best Pani Puris or Vada Pavs, they will give you name of some streets rathar than restaurants and I had also similar kind of experience here. I visited couple of places with local friends and tried various dishes like Quesadillas, Tacos and Tamales. Being an vegetarian, there were very few options available for me but still it was really great fun in enjoying those limited options.
One thing I have noticed about Mexican food is that they put a lot of cheese in all the dishes. If you take Quesadilla Papas Con Queso (Quesadilla with Potatoes and Cheese), they put equal amount of Potato and Cheese in the Quesadilla (its kind of Indian Roti but thicker compare to Roti and made up of Corn). In case of Tamale of Rajas con Queso (a dish which taste little bit similar to South Indian dish Upama but has green chilli and cheese), you will again find enough of Cheese which makes it a perfect breakfast dish. One of my Indian friend has become a real tamale lover and takes two tamales every Saturday without fail :) In fact he is regretting that he doesn't find enough time to have it in everyday breakfast :)
Road side food has always been a point of concern for health conscious people (including me, sometimes) and many people avoids that but when you compare the taste, nothing beats that. If you go for road side food at lunch time in Mexico, literally you need to wait in a queue to have those delicacies. All these dishes are comparatively mild if you are used to spicy taste of Indian dishes but no need to worry. They have green chilli and red chilli sauce (Chatney in Indian style) which you can add upto your strength !!
I am planning to visit some more places in forthcoming weekends. Lets see how many new dishes I get chance to try.

Run.. Run.. Run..
Two weeks before, I moved to new project with new client. I got new project, new client and yes.. new office. This office is relatively far from the previous one so need to spend bit more time in commuting. On the very first day of the new office, I started my day from hotel at 7:30 expecting that I would be able to reach the office by 8:00 as it was just 10 kms away but...
But when I reached the subway, I realized that I was completely unaware of the business culture of Mexico as I never started my day for office so early. I understood that Mexico is similar to another metros like Mumbai where people don't start their day by morning walk but start with Marathon !! At 7:30 in the morning, there was so much rush in the metro that even an air could hardly pass through passengers. All future managers were hanging in the metro in black suits and colourful ties. You can consider yourself lucky if you can get proper place to stand up !! As this experience was not enough for the first day, I need to stand in a big queue to get into the bus once I got down from the metro. After spending 10-15 mins standing in the queue, got the place to sit in the bus and bus was on the way to office. As that distance was hardly 5 Kms, I thought I will reach in 10 mins. The bus started and after some time, I felt like I am in some village and enjoying nice ride on bullock cart. The whole road was jam packed with small colourful dots (cars) and my bus was on the way on speed of bullock cart. Finally, I reached office after finishing my ride in half an hour.
When you start your day like this, you understand importance of the time and then you come up with innovative ideas to make effective utilization of time. I got chance to see such innovative ideas. Some ladies were so busy in makeup that they completely ignored the presence of other passengers. It was difficult to make out are they the same one to whom you saw half an your back !! Some managers were busy reading financial news while others were busy in finishing their breakfast. And the favourite of mine was, taking a small nap and completing your sleeping quota.
Finally I finished my first day in the office and returned to hotel in the similar fashion. I was so exhausted that I cooked my dinner and just went to bed after finishing it. I was not feeling very sleepy but I need to go to sleep as the next day I need to be ready for run.....

Body Shakers
Zara Si Aahat Hoti Hai To Dil Sochta Hai...
kahin Yeh Woh To Nahin...
kahin Yeh Woh To Nahin...
kahin Yeh Woh To Nahin...
This is a classic song from bollywood movie, sung by Lata Mangeshkar. This song became very much famous in January 2001 when there was a earthquake in Gujarat. After earthquake, there was a series of aftershocks which made people think there is a tremor even if its not there.
I recalled this song two weeks back when we felt tremor in Mexico. It was not very high magnitude earthquake but still.. earthquake is a earthquake..
The one which we felt two weeks back was the second experience after coming in Mexico. We had one before in the month of April when swine flu had just started spreading in Mexico. At the time of first earthquake, I was in bus, on way to my hotel from the office. I saw many people gathered together on the roads and thought, may be they have gathered to pray to god for this epidemic !!! But when I arrived at hotel, guys from our hotel were on the road and told me about the earthquake. As I was in bus, I didn't realize there was a earthquake.
But this time, it was written in destiny to recall those memories of Gujarat earthquake. I was in a lunch with a friend on the first floor of a roadside restaurant. We were enjoying our lunch and suddenly everything started shaking. The first thought came in my mind is my friend is moving our table :D After few second, I saw many people on the road and realize.. oho.. this is something which you have felt before... yes.. its earthquake. Before we thought to go downstairs, it stopped and people started coming back. One of the person in the restaurant reacted like its a daily routine for him. He went downstairs without panic on the face. When it stopped shaking, he returned and continued his lunch without any fear on his face !!
I have heard people saying that its normal in Mexico to feel this so no need to worry !!! Just be calm and go downstairs whenever there is a shock. But some people have something different in mind. This happend to one of my friend at time of Gujarat earthquake. He was living on 6th floor in his building. As you might know, there were many aftershocks after Gujarat earthquake and most of them used to be there in night. These aftershocks were not very high in intensity so used to stop in few seconds. Now, whenever there is a shock, my friend used to go down. Few times it happened that he reached at 3rd or 4th floor and it stopped shaking. He got bored of coming down every other night and finally, stopped going down !!! His argument was also valid. If I can't reach down, what's point in running. So rather than running down at midnight, its better to enjoy the sleep.Yes, you might be correct but you never know what's the intensity of the shock. It could be your last sleep in the bed if you don't run.
Overall it was good that both the earthquakes were of low to medium intensity otherwise it could have created a big damage. Lets hope we dont have anymore bodyshakers in the future.
PS : I would like to thank all my friends who are baring my blog. I have already got 130+ hits on my blog in just 9 posts. Its really a great moment for me to know that people are reading my blog from different parts of the world like India, China, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Netherlands, UK, US, Canada, Mexico and Dominican Republic.
